From Goodreads:

Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it-the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set-one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game-at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington D.C. major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the west coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

“Such a precious sun it is, the one that shines after a cold, harsh rain.”

Luke Boone knows what he wants – to be a mirror image of his Uncle Rust and to have a life filled with women, fast cars, and money. And if getting it means crossing over into territory that might not be exactly legal… well, no worries as long as nobody’s getting hurt. Luke is finally getting everything he’s dreamed of, and meeting Rain Martines is the icing on the cake. But there’s something Luke doesn’t know about Rain – something that not only will obliterate everything he yearns for, but that possibly has the power to destroy Luke himself.

Clara Bertelli has finally been given the opportunity she’s worked so hard for – one that could take the D.C. undercover officer from busting drug addicts and pimps to working for the FBI. All she has to do is catch the eye of her target and expose a major car theft ring involving some seriously immoral businessmen. Piece of cake. And if her handsome and admittedly charming target has to go down for being wrapped up with the wrong people… then that’s the price he has to pay, right? But what if it ends up costing Clara more than she could have ever imagined?

Oh, K.A. Tucker… how do I love thee?? Let me count the… nope, too many ways to count! I’m such a fan of this author – for example, I never tell anyone to take a deep breath anymore; now it’s "take ten tiny breaths." Last year I read and fell madly in love with Burying Water, so I was beyond excited for Becoming Rain. We met Luke in Burying Water; and he certainly got my attention, though I admit I was a bit on the fence with him and his overly ambitious ways. But something this author has proven to me more than once is that she can give you a secondary character you’re unsure of and turn them into a leading man you’ll easily and happily grow to love. There is so much more to Luke than first meets the eye. And Clara is serious girl-crush material. I love her! This book is so exciting, and I was on pins and needles waiting to see how in the world this was going to work out – if it was going to work out! Would it leave me with a happy sigh or in a heartbroken puddle of tears? You know what… I'm not telling… you’ll have to read the story to see how this electrifying adventure ends.

Becoming Rain is an intricate and suspenseful story told through flawless dual POVs. I recommend this story not only to fans of NA and contemporary romance, but especially to readers who believe all NA novels are created equally. K.A. Tucker puts the “new” in New Adult and offers a refreshing and thrilling spin on the genre.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

  2. I need an author who will put the new in new adult because I am burned out on the same old same old in the genre. I am seeing this one all over today and I know I have the first book so time to dig in and see how it fares with me.

  3. Wasn't this fantastic. I love that it was a romantic suspense. I know it is classified as new adult but to me it has an adult feel, free of college drama.
