Goodreads Summary:

Love hurts...

When aspiring writer Guinevere Beck strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe works, he’s instantly smitten. Beck is everything Joe has ever wanted: She’s gorgeous, tough, razor-smart, and as sexy as his wildest dreams.

Beck doesn’t know it yet, but she’s perfect for him, and soon she can’t resist her feelings for a guy who seems custom made for her. But there’s more to Joe than Beck realizes, and much more to Beck than her oh-so-perfect façade. Their mutual obsession quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences . . .

A chilling account of unrelenting passion, Caroline Kepnes’s You is a perversely romantic thriller that’s more dangerously clever than any you’ve read before.

Boy meets girl. Boy falls in love with girl. Boy stalks girl. And he will do ANYTHING to have her. And I do mean anything. Reading Joe Goldberg's account of his pursuit of Guinevere Beck, aka Beck, is... well this is where words fail me and why Loki is here to help. Horrifying? Check. Mesmerizing? Double check. Captivating? All the checks. I was held just as much hostage as the unlucky souls Joe locks in the cage in the soundproof basement of the book store where he works.

You read that right: cage. Oh, fellow readers... that doesn't even scratch the surface. The things Joe does. It blew my mind. To smithereens. And here's the thing about Joe... he is not the kind of guy you would see walking towards you on the street and immediately cross to the other side to keep a safe distance from. No. Joe is handsome, charming, extremely intelligent. He's the guy you could talk books with for a lifetime. He just happens to be a little bit of a sociopath. The thing that hurt my brain the most is the way the author writes Joe... you find yourself rooting for him and practically praying he won't get caught, and then you catch yourself doing that and think "WHAT AM I DOING??"

Joe is so clever and funny -- and Beck... there is not enough room in this post to list the issues belonging to Beck -- that it blurs the lines between right and wrong and sane and... well, not sane. There are moments that are lovely and poignant and yet so very wrong. There are so many things and people standing in Joe's way of Beck that he has to take some very "creative" measures to remove them. Remove them.

But Joe loves Beck. And he doesn't want to love her to death or make a suit out of her skin... he just wants to live happily ever after with this woman of his dreams. To share a life together, to grow old together, raise a family, and -- most importantly -- to be loved back. Is that so bad??

Yes, Joe. Yes, it is. 'Cause you're doing it wrong. I think we're all aware of the dangers of social media, but this certainly reminds us why. It's as enlightening as it is frightening. There are some seriously twisted moments in this story, and it is not for young readers or readers of a delicate nature. It is dark, and it is demented... so did I like it?

This book is only $1.99 right now; and if you're tired of light and fluffy and in the mood for heavy and unbalanced, you will not want to miss this one!
