Teaser Tuesday #53: The Stag Lord by Darby Kaye

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Title: The Stag Lord
Author: Darby Kaye
Publisher: Spence City
Expected Release: December 2, 2014
Pre-order: Amazon  |  B&N

Goodreads Summary:

On the run across America from a vengeful shape-shifter, Bannerman “Bann” Boru has only one thing on his mind: keeping himself and his young son, Cor, alive.

At any cost.

Until he meets Shay Doyle, healer and member of a secret group of immortal Celtic warriors, the Tuatha De Danaan, living in modern-day Colorado. When Cor is injured, Bannerman is forced to accept her help. He quickly realizes that the golden-haired healer is shield-maiden tough and can hold her own on the field of battle with the big boys. And Shay soon discovers that there is more to Bann than meets the eye.

Now, with the shape-shifter Cernunnos teaming up with the local pack of Fir Bolgs (Bronze Age creatures with a nasty taste for children), Bannerman, Shay, her wolf-dog, Max, and the rest of the Doyle clan must figure out how to battle one insane god.

I am loving this book so much, and narrowing it down to one Teaser quote is so difficult. I want everyone to know Bannerman Boru because to know him is to love him. I could share one of the moments that made my toes curl, or one that showed off what a bad-ass warrior he truly is, or how funny he can be – but aside from being a sexy but humble knight and a beautiful man inside and out, Bann is first and foremost a father. And this is the part of Bannerman Boru I’ve decided to share. His relationship with his eight-year-old son Cor is so touching. And it’s moments like this that turned me into a puddle of mush:

  8. Oh, Michele, that quote has turned me into a pile of mush, too! Lol. If there's one thing that I find really adorable in a male protagonist, it's tenderness toward children. A man who is gentle and tender with a child is a really GOOD man. So you've sold me on this book!! I'm adding it to my Goodreads TBR like NOW. I'm already wishing I could hug this guy! Lol.

Thanks for sharing the quote, as well as your thoughts about Bann!! : )
