There is danger in dreaming. But there is even more danger in waking up.

Blue Sargent has found things. For the first time in her life, she has friends she can trust, a group to which she can belong. The Raven Boys have taken her in as one of their own. Their problems have become hers, and her problems have become theirs.

The trick with found things though, is how easily they can be lost.

Friends can betray.
Mothers can disappear.
Visions can mislead.
Certainties can unravel.

And so the search continues. In this third installment of the amazing Raven Cycle, Gansey is closer than ever to finding his Glendower King, and Blue and her boys are just as beautiful and tragic as ever. Cabeswater gave me more shudders than ever before; and as always, I can never, ever get enough of Ronan Lynch. Discoveries were made, answers were granted, and in the manner I’ve grown accustomed to with this series… more questions arose. Sigh. But I have to say the friendships among this diverse (yet, as they are learning, strikingly similar) group of comrades warms my heart, and I was so relieved to see relationships get back on track.

Ms. Steifvater’s writing is, per usual, thrilling and captivating. The pacing was steady, but my impatience for more Gansey and Blue moments made it feel excruciatingly slow at times. That, of course, is all me – I just can’t help but crave mint leaves and romantic interludes, blasted kiss curses be damned. All of my favorite characters were in perfect form, and we even got some new ones by which to be mesmerized (Greenmantle and Piper = crazy cakes; Jessie = lovable, gentle giant). Though I could have used more Ronan, this is another fabulous installment in this great series. After that ending, the wait for the next book will be just as agonizing as the wait for this one.

My Rating:  ★★★

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

  1. I'm not quite caught-up on this series, I still have one more installment to go before I tackle this one, so I only skimmed your review for fear of spoilers. I'm happy that we finally get some answers in Blue Lily, Lily Blue, although I'm not surprised that more questions pop-up as well. That's Maggie Stiefvater for you! You're Team Ronan Lynch, eh? I haven't made up my mind on that front yet.
