November Novellas #21: Review and Giveaway: Until Fountain Bridge (On Dublin Street #1.5) by Samantha Young

It’s that time of year again! I absolutely adore novellas, short stories, and anthologies! They are fun and fast reads, and some are very easy on the pocketbook if not FREE. Some are essential to the series, some are great for catch-up between novels, and some… well, some will have you scratching your head wondering, “What’s the point in this?” as well as questioning the hefty price! This month, I’m going to be bringing you some novella and short story deals and steals as well as highlighting my favorites and letting you know which ones to grab up and which ones you might want to pass up. I’ll have spotlights, reviews, guest reviews, and giveaways.

Title: Until Fountain Bridge
(An On Dublin Street Novella)
Author: Samantha Young
Publisher: Penguin
Published: June 18, 2013

Purchase: Amazon  |  B&N

Ellie Carmichael had a crush on Adam Sutherland, her brother, Braden’s, best friend, for years, and although Adam treated her with proprietary concern he made it clear he thought of her only as a little sister.

Over the years, as Ellie’s crush develops into love, her romantic idealism makes it difficult for her to move on. To make matters worse, as she’s gotten older, Adam’s attitude has changed toward her. His affection for her is now joined by attraction, but his loyalty to Braden, and his fear of losing the only family he has, stops him from claiming Ellie the way she wishes he would.

But one night his attraction is put to the test, and as much as Adam would like things to remain the same everything changes between them in a simple brush of the lips.

Soon lust, love, jealousy and heartbreak combine to force change upon their relationship… and Adam discovers the hard way that life is too damn short to spend it on regret.

"'I want every piece of you.
Even the stuff I missed without even knowing I was missing it.'"

I am so in love with Samantha Young and her On Dublin Street series.  If you fell in love with Joss and Braden in book one, then chances are you also fell hard for Braden's sister Ellie and his best friend Adam. These two played an integral part in On Dublin Street; and when Ms. Young offered their story in Until Fountain Bridge for free when you pre-ordered Down London Road -- I jumped on that like a fat kid on cake. No worries if you didn't get your free copy, you can now purchase Until Fountain Bridge on Amazon and B&N or just stick around for my giveaway of it below.

This beautiful novella contains the sweetest diary entries from a young and smitten Ellie; and as she shares these juicy tidbits with Adam and with us, we get the rest of the story from both characters along with mentions of Joss and Braden. The over-protectiveness that both Braden and Adam have for Ellie is endearing but also frustrating and hilarious:

"'If you touch her, I’ll make sure you lose all sense of feeling. Permanently,' Adam warned darkly.

'What he said,' Braden growled."

I felt so bad for Ellie as she dealt with what she believed were unrequited feelings and rejection from the man she loved. Little did she know that Adam was just as miserable as she was.

"I like knowing that while I was struggling with the fact
that I had fallen in love with my best friend's little sister,
she loved me back more than I could ever hope to deserve."

I just adore these two, and I'm so happy the author gave us more of them.

Bottom line: This novella is currently $2.99 for roughly 111 pages; but that includes a preview to Down London Road, which is a book that I absolutely adore and highly recommend. While the price is on the high side, it will be worth it for fans of the series. It's a great addition!
