November Novellas #10: Spotlight and Giveaway: Phoenix Overture (Newsoul #2 .5): An Incarnate Novella by Jodi Meadows

It’s that time of year again! I absolutely adore novellas, short stories, and anthologies! They are fun and fast reads, and some are very easy on the pocketbook if not FREE. Some are essential to the series, some are great for catch-up between novels, and some… well, some will have you scratching your head wondering, “What’s the point in this?” as well as questioning the hefty price! This month, I’m going to be bringing you some novella and short story deals and steals as well as highlighting my favorites and letting you know which ones to grab up and which ones you might want to pass up. I’ll have spotlights, reviews, guest reviews, and giveaways.

Title: Phoenix Overture
(Newsoul #2.5)
Author: Jodi Meadows
Publisher: HarperTeen Impulse
Published: September 3, 2013

Purchase:  Amazon  |  B&N

Summary:

This breathtaking and lyrical novella captures a thrilling and momentous decision for a young man and the people he loves. Told from the perspective of Sam, the sensitive musician from Jodi Meadows’s Incarnate series, lifetimes before he meets Ana, Phoenix Overture is a story of love and loss, strength and courage, and facing the consequences of the hardest of decisions.

Phoenix Overture offers existing fans a deeper insight into a favorite character and the intriguing history of Heart, while new readers will find a stunning introduction to this rich world and the romantic, captivating fantasy of the Incarnate series.

In the wilds around the Community where Sam and his family have taken shelter, life is dangerous. Dragons, trolls, centaurs, and other monsters fill the world. The word comes from the council that everyone must leave and journey to rescue their leader, Janan, who has been abducted by a mysterious new enemy in the north. Faced with overwhelming threats that bring death and destruction, Sam and the others reach the northern Range and, reunited with Janan, are given an unimaginable opportunity. Although it would give them the privilege to live and learn and love without fear, the choice is not without its own dire consequences. And lives—though not theirs—are sure to be lost. Just how much are they willing to give up to save themselves?

I was so excited to see there was a novella for the Newsoul series!  I absolutely adored Incarnate; and if you'd like, you can check out my gushy, raving review of it here.  I'm spotlighting and giving away a copy of this novella in lieu of a review because I read a warning that it's really best to read this one AFTER you've read Asunder. Even though this story takes place lifetimes before Ana, apparently there are some moments that could be spoilery for the second installment.  Since Asunder is waiting patiently on my shelf for me, I'm holding onto this sure-to-be gem until after I've finished book two.  I love that this is from Sam's POV, and I can hardly wait to learn more about this endearing character.

I have to say, I think the covers for these books are absolutely stunning.  Some of my very favorites.  You can click on each of these beauties to learn more about each one.

Incarnate (Newsoul, #1) Asunder (Newsoul, #2) Phoenix Overture (Newsoul, #2.5) Infinite (Newsoul, #3)

Bottom Line:  $1.99 for roughly 150 pages is a great deal!  I can't imagine not loving a story that revolves around Sam.  I adore him, and any chance to learn more about him is one I'll gladly take. You can purchase this novella from the above links or fill out the Rafflecopter form below for your chance to win!
