Rescued by a stranger. Haunted by a secret Sometimes, love isn’t easy…

He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…

The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.

Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.

A groundbreaking novel in the New Adult genre, Easy faces one girl's struggle to regain the trust she's lost, find the inner strength to fight back against an attacker, and accept the peace she finds in the arms of a secretive boy.

“Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined and recalculated
heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart”
Easy begins with a frightening attack and a rescue by a mysterious stranger.  Any kind of assault is hard to read about, but I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this story due to the way the main character chose to handle this terrible incident.  I’m so happy that I stuck with it because the author was very responsible by showing that there were sad and unfortunate consequences to Jacqueline’s decision.  I was reminded that no two people are alike and, no matter how much you might think you would handle a situation, one never really knows unless they’ve come face to face with it.
“'Not. Your. Fault.'
I nodded again, holding onto his words like they were redemption.”

With that said, I went on to thoroughly enjoy this story.  Lucas had me intrigued right away for all the wrong reasons. Yep, I had shallow insta-love with this tattooed, lip-ringed, handsome bad boy.  But, while I may have started loving Lucas for less-than-honorable reasons, learning his back story and getting to know his character made me fall in love with him for all the right reasons.  He definitely made my fictional beau list with his kind words and his gentle heart.

“'The night we met -- I'm not like that guy.' His jaw was rigid.
'I know tha-' He placed a finger over my lips, his expression softening.
'So I don't want you to feel pressured. Or overpowered.
But I do, absolutely, want to kiss you right now. Badly.'"

And even though I had insta-love with Lucas, don’t worry because Jacqueline didn’t.  At first she avoided him like the plague.  He was a blinding reminder of that horrible night. Their relationship was a slow-blossoming yet intense and incredibly romantic one.

“I breathed him in, closing my mouth tight and inhaling the scent of him through my nose. I felt sheltered by him. Safe.”
“The way he kissed me felt like a brand.
Like he was tattooing himself under my skin.”

My favorite thing about Jacqueline is that she went from being a victim to choosing to be a survivor.  She learned how to fight back and stopped hiding from the truth.  I found that so admirable.

Even though Easy is too mature for my daughter to read right now, it paved the way for an amazing conversation between us. Tammara Webber stresses the importance in telling someone if you’ve been a victim; and after reading this story, choosing the right words to have an age-appropriate conversation with my kiddo was effortless.  My daughter shared some wise words of her own with me and has convinced me that we should take self-defense classes.

Extremely likable characters who are easy to relate to and a powerful message about love, survival, and forgiveness make Easy an incredible book that's so very easy to love.

“'Choosing to be with you isn't a difficult decision, Jacqueline...
It's easy. Incredibly easy.'”

  1. *runs in circles* I love this book so much for all the reasons you said in this review. This was one of my first NA books and I absolutely fell in love with it. Lucas is such a wonderful character and I loved Jacqueline. I also loved the whole "following your boyfriend to college" aspect and how that doesnt always work out. I remember wanting to enroll in a self defense class after reading this book, but I couldnt find any near me that worked into my crazy schedule.. I am still searching though!

    Great review lovely!

  2. I am right there with you falling for Lucas for wrong and then right reasons. I was surprised and loved the depth his character had.

Great review and pretty much sums up what I felt reading it. I really enjoyed Easy when I first read it a few months back. I do believe it's a good book to open up discussion with other women and it also highlights how different we all react to situations. I don't agree with the way Jacqueline handled it, but I do like how she refused to be a victim and went out to take self defense classes.

  6. You are on a hot hot streak with all these good reads, lately! Oh I have been eyeing this for awhile and I must read it. I like that it takes on such a tough topic and I cannot wait to see how the heroine grows and transforms. It is I am sure a hard path. You are all your book boyfriends these days. I ought to make you list them all!

  7. OMG. This book sounds absolutely fantastic! I'll admit to swooning at a few of those lines, and I really want to get started on it now...need to buy it. Great review, and I hope that you guys have fun at your self defense class! (:

  11. Tammara is such a thoughtful writer, in all her books. I loved this so much. Lucas was so perfectly mysterious and passionate and honorable. I never had a problem w/Jacqueline b/c it's a hard thing to be scared & ashamed and I felt Tammara did a beautiful job conveying that.
Excellent review, Michele. I'm happy you loved Easy.
