Teaser Tuesday (6): Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (Make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week's teaser comes from the following book:

Title:  Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles #3)
Authors:  Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Publisher:  Little, Brown and Company
Published:  October 18, 2011
Amazon | B&N The Book Depository

Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What - or who - will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?

For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself - forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.

Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

My teaser is:

"It was late, the first time she met him.  Sarafine knew she shouldn't
be walking alone this late at night.  Mortals were no threat to her,
but she knew there were other things out there."
-pg. 227

I started Beautiful Chaos nearly a year ago and just could not get invested in the story.  It has remained on my 'currently reading' shelf ever since.  However, I am a fan of the series; and, with Beautiful Redemption coming out on the 23rd of this month -- not to mention getting excited over the release of the theatrical trailer for Beautiful Creatures -- I thought maybe, if I teased myself a bit, it would give me just the motivation I needed to finish this story.  And it worked!  I can already tell there will be no putting this book down now!

I'd love to know what your Teaser Tuesday is! Leave me a link in the comments so I can visit you!

  1. I'm glad to hear you are finally invested! I've had a little bit of trouble with these books in the past, but I haven't found them particularly unlikable. I'm not sure if I'll end up finishing it though. :)

  2. Great teaser! I can't wait to start this series...ESPECIALLY after seeing the trailer. I think I'm going to go the audio route, though, so I can actually get to them sooner rather than later. I mean, look how long I had your copy and I still never read it. :(
